Plot |
Billy Ray Cyrus's catchy line-dancing anthem, "Achy Breaky Heart," kicks off this mini-anthology of the country star's music videos, which vary radically in style and look. "Could've Been Me" makes the hunky, one-time superstar almost look like a Marvel Comics superhero set against the glare of a city skyline, while the song itself still sounds like faux Mellencamp. "She's Not Cryin' Anymore" is a straightforward stage production, the better to appreciate a mild Tex-Mex melody that Roy Orbison might have once hummed. "In the Heart of a Woman" is a forgettable Big Song shot against a canyon backdrop; the epic exteriors don't help the tune. Finally, "Some Gave All" is a well-meaning patriot's ballad that gets a little mired in bathos. It's moving, nevertheless, and shots of old veterans and the graves of their fallen comrades get under one's skin. --Tom Keogh |
